The National Training Authority (NTA) on 11th March 2013 formally accredited the GPU School of Journalism to provide journalism education in the country, an unprecedented development for a country that has never had a formal structure for journalism education. Under the terms and conditions of its licence, the GPU School of Journalism is mandated to offer journalism education up to diploma level within the framework of the Technical Vocational Education and Training (TVET) in The Gambia. The NTA is the body responsible for the regulation of TVET in The Gambia.

The Ministry of Education is to get sh219b to boost the implementation of the Skilling Uganda programme beginning the next financial year.Speaking to journalists at his office at the ministry in Kampala, the minister of education and sports, Jessica Alupo revealed that the Organisation of Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) has already pledged to contribute $22.95m.Other pledges have come from Islamic Development Bank ($27.91m), Saudi Fund for International Development ($11.998m), Kuwait Fund ($11.9m) and Arab Bank for Economic Development in Africa ($5m).
